Hi. I've been away for a while and have nothing new to show for all this time. Spending my days in pyjamas mostly whilst recovering from an operation on my foot. The good news is, my foot will look beautiful after all this. Do you remember this dress? I didn't like the sleeves, so I cut them off and created this modular dress. I used a pair of leggings for the sleeves and an old top for the cuffs. The parts can be easily detached whenever one wishes. It's very convenient for Dutch weather, where you can never be sure that a perfectly plausible summer morning isn't going to turn into vicious autumn mayhem before you even start thinking about lunch. So here it is, my modular dress:

I saw the film, I liked it. It didn't affect me much emotionally nor did it surprise me, but I liked watching it nevertheless. A well crafted picture. On a completely unrelated note: bags scare me. I have absolutely no skill for buying them, never know what I like. I've always seen them as an object of function, not beauty. Hence the continuous struggle ruled by panic and chaos, and most of the time resorting to 2nd hand more or less (but mostly less) successful finds.

I fell in love with this crazy top as soon as I saw it at a vintage market and the 5 euro price well pleased me too. It even feels like cow's skin, it has furry texture. The quality is sublime. I then dug this lovely skirt out of a pile of 1 euro clothes on a different stall. Lastly, I couldn't pass on the mustard heels (see previous post), which completed the outfit. And all that on a Monday morning before work.

I went out to get bits and bobs today and inevitably popped round a local charity shop where I found this knock-off of I-don't-know-what bag (which I'm not sure I like yet. I'm not good in bags), a pair of leather ankle boots (which you see here), a lovely beige jumper with nice detail (coming soon) and a beige quilted vest (lots of beige today!). I also bought a box with a lady bug pattern and some hangers (What happens to hangers in my house? Is there a black hole that sucks them in? It seems that no matter how many new sets I buy, there is always shortage).

My Sunday: I've spent the day making and remaking things. I had this pair of vintage Carvela boots I didn't quite know how to wear. So I cut them up a bit (but still don't know how to wear them). And I made another collar, a leather one this time. The denim one from one of the previous posts was just a trial.

Let me tell you about those tights. Undoubtedly you've seen them on other blogs. And rightly so: they are fan-friggin'-tastic! The look, the feel, the quality... Brilliant. I got this track suit from a friend (and put the zips in myself). Cross ring is from Topshop, Boots are Ksubi. My left thumb is black because I'm dyeing my suede wedges today and sometimes forget to put on rubber gloves when I turn them over in the bucket.

two birds with one stone

Two sets in one post today, the reason being, I had to run to the cinema last night and no time was left for an update. The place is a cinema, cafe, gallery and a vintage shop all in one, which is kind of dangerous for me... A dress (which will feature here soon, real soon...) displayed in the window caught my eye as a wonderful old Milos Forman film started appearing on the opposite wall. As the screening proceeded merrily, I thought my head would unscrew itself from the neck and fall off to everybody's bewilderment, such was my interest in the said garment. As soon as the screening finished I went and tried it on and guess what... it fit as if it was tailor made for me! I couldn't believe it as it looked tiny on the mannequin. So I ended up buying it at the stroke of midnight. How's that for impuls midnight shopping?

Meanwhile, back to yesterday's and today's looks (which look kind of grim in comparison).

This Zara dress (on sale for 15 euros) is pure joy to wear. The fabric is comfortably soft but at the same time thick, which is perfect for covering the consequences of that one too many spoonful of sticky toffee cake soaked in a runny creamy vanilla ice creammmmmm...
